Positive Reviews
positive:
Scenic location
Although the location is quite
remote, the guests love the fact that The Old Inn is tucked away out of the
reach of the urban jungle. It's in a lovely, remote, scenic area, where one can
truly relax and commune with nature. Many feel it is as great base for
exploring the local area and the hotel supplies packed lunches on request for
people who wish to explore in earnest.
positive:
Great food
Most of the guests have found the
food to be great here. The meals are well cooked with generous portions and are
well presented. Food minorities such as vegetarians are also well served, which
is a great advantage in such a remote area.
positive:
Nice staff
The staff in the hotel, and the
locals too, have been found to be friendly, helpful and very welcoming, which
is a lovely experience say guests, especially when one has been travelling for
a long time.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Closed in winter
Recently some of the guests have
noticed that the inn remains closed during the winter months, so there is no
chance of celebrating the Hogmanay (New Year) celebrations here.
negative:
Understaffed
The staff here is friendly and
helpful, but unfortunately, the hotel seems really understaffed. The staff on
duty are usually extremely busy, with no time to stop and have a chat with
guests. This results in a lot of small matters being overlooked, which
otherwise might not be the case.
negative:
Intermittent Wi-Fi
The
location is rather remote and sometimes the Wi-Fi is not very strong. This is
not a huge problem for those who like to leave the world behind when on
holiday, but for those who need to maintain regular contact with home or
business while they are away, it could be a worry. Also, the Wi-Fi is available
in the public areas rather than the rooms.
