This core idea, combined with our curated design and a College Hotel level of service will make anyone’s stay a memorable one. 125 years of valuable memories can be felt throughout our beautiful building. Our unique offering of 40 different rooms used to be school classrooms. Each room has a different atmosphere and feels absolutely special and so welcoming with high ceilings and bright daylight flooding in. The views give guests a glimpse into the Amsterdam that once was, with the surrounding buildings being almost as old as the College Hotel, peeking out of a window takes you back 100 years and it seems nothing has really changed. It’s a bit hard to describe, but walking through the building, once simply feels 125 years of activity that took place in the building and the memories it houses.

positive:
Beautiful building, stylishly reimagined.
With a stylishly renovated interior, this beautiful old schoolhouse building has been turned into something special, with many guests appreciative of the unique design aesthetic.
positive:
Great location out of busy centre.
The fact it is out of the city centre chaos does not mean you will be bored — the hotel is very close to museums such as the Van Gogh Museum or Rijksmuseum, while trams stop opposite the hotel for easy access to city centre.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Mood lighting not so practical.
While the lighting in rooms and bathrooms may be dramatic, many found it to simply be too dim for their liking and the light controls hard to master. This seems to be something that will be addressed during renovations in 2015.
negative:
Small problems with room systems.
Guests have reported issues connecting to the complicated Wi-Fi system, air conditioning problems and a few other faults, which may also be addressed in the renovation.
negative:
Some staff members lacking experience.
Some people reported that there is apparently a large proportion of hospitality students working at The College, some of whom are inexperienced and make the odd mistake, but mishaps seem to generally be made up for with enthusiasm.
