Positive Reviews
positive:
Agreeable setting is charming and convenient
The vast majority of visitors who've stayed at this hotel have said they really enjoyed basing themselves in Sugamo as it's a calm, charming neighbourhood with a very authentic vibe. Being so close to a Yamanote Line train station was also deemed a big plus as it brought livelier places like Ueno and Shinjuku within easy reach.
positive:
Accommodations are extremely clean
Neat, tidy and as pristine as pristine gets; small wonder so many guests raved about the overall standards of cleanliness maintained throughout the accommodation areas.
positive:
Wi-Fi is actually very good
Many travellers were thrilled to discover this property bucks the trend Tokyo budget hotels have of providing sketchy Wi-Fi and manages to deliver a service which is, by all accounts, really pretty solid and reliable.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Lack of English can cause problems
It has been noted that, whilst some receptionists have enough English to check guests in and make polite small talk, they struggle somewhat when it comes to dealing with general enquiries and unforeseen problems.
negative:
Accommodations are very small
This hotel chain openly markets itself toward single travellers so it shouldn't really come as a surprise to discover the rooms here are very small. That being said, many guests who hadn't visited Japan before were quite alarmed to find out just how tiny they really are.
negative:
Smell of cigarettes lingers throughout
A considerable number of visitors have complained of a near-permanent odour of tobacco lingering around most parts of this hotel. Some disgruntled guests even had to put up with the smell in their (supposedly) non-smoking rooms.
