Situated less than half a mile from Hammersmith’s tube station and major concert and entertainment venues, the Royal Guest House offers basic but comfortable accommodation. The rooms are simply furnished and decorated, but contain all you’ll need to get a good night’s sleep. Each features en-suite bathroom, flat screen TV, minibar, work desk and tea/coffee station. Royal Guest House is a small reasonably priced establishment and there are few public facilities. Reception is on hand and can assist with tours, transfers and basic business services. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. A basic continental breakfast is available every morning, but staff will be only too happy to offer you their personal local restaurant and pub recommendations for other meals. Los Molinos Tapas Bar is highly rated and just steps from the Royal. The Hammersmith area is well known for its concert and entertainment venues. The Eventim Apollo is just a few minutes walk from the hotel.
It seems that many guests were attending events at the Apollo, or another venue in Hammersmith, and found the location exceptionally convenient. They could simply walk to and from their concert or other event, saving themselves the hassle of using the tube or an expensive taxi. Also, for those travelling further afield, Hammersmith tube stop was just a short walk away.
While not an unusual feature in hotels, several guests commented that they really appreciated being able to make tea and coffee in their room. It was also mentioned that there was an ample supply of teabags and coffee sachets.
Whatever small issues guests had with their rooms, most found that the decent room-rate dwarfed them in significance. Most felt they received excellent value for money.
This was perhaps the most common complaint. Several guests mentioned that the road outside is especially busy and that the rooms really aren't properly soundproofed. As a result some had their sleep disturbed.
A few guests, especially those allocated a room on the top floor, pointed but that the building does not have a lift. Guests will have to be prepared for some stair climbing, including with their luggage.
While there were one or two compliments, most guests did not seem to think highly of the Wi-Fi system. The signal was said to be too weak to reach some rooms, and even when connected seemed to be either slow or unreliable.
