The Gates Hotel Key West (Key West, USA)

It’s a rare thing to see guests describe a hotel as literally picture perfect. In every aspect from the rooms, to the common areas, to the pool, this stylish getaway does not disappoint. This property was recently remodeled, so the spacious rooms look fresh, bright and clean. Guests also add that they liked the comfortable beds and the fragrant Key Lime-flavored toiletries.

Stop by for a drink at the Rum Row, which serves classy and creative cocktails. Guests absolutely loved the casual tropical atmosphere and appreciated the high quality of the drinks. For tasty tapas, stop by The Blind Pig food truck, which is open from breakfast to dinner. Tobacco connoisseurs can also relax in the cigar lounge and sample some exquisite blends.

The staff is often describe and cheerful and friendly. Guests say that the concierge is very knowledgeable and can give you great local recommendations, and the bartenders are charming and sure to brighten your day.

The hotel is about four miles from Duval Street and the main center of Key West. Fortunately, there is a complimentary hourly shuttle service that takes you to all the action.  Although the island is walkable, guests don’t advise it because of the high temperatures.

Some of the rooms, especially the ground floor rooms, or those facing the bar, can be noisy. Some guests also complained about their loud vibrating air conditioner. If you’re a light sleeper, you may want to bring along your earplugs.

There is an extra resort fee that surprised most guests, but it quickly pays off if you take advantage of the shuttle service, as taxi fares cost more.
