Positive Reviews
positive:
Peaceful oasis.
Guests loved that La Tortuga is right next door to bustling 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen, but without the noise. Tucked away behind larger hotel complexes, guests felt their stresses melt away at this quiet retreat. After a day of relaxation, you are able to easily make your way to downtown Playa del Carmen for some excitement. The pier to Cozumel Island is also close-by, about a 10-minute walk.
positive:
Superb staff.
Staff at this hotel wowed guests with exuberant service that was often the highlight of their stay. From personable bartenders who got the party started, to informative concierge staff, guests were in good hands at La Tortuga.
positive:
Good eats.
Guests felt that the restaurant was worth visiting, for fresh, inventive breakfasts and top-notch service. Something different awaited guests every morning, tempting even those who stayed up too late the night before to partake in the mouth-watering offerings.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Fussy Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi was a bit of a letdown to several guests trying to get some work done. If you don't want to completely unplug for your vacation, you might want to try the Wi-Fi on your balcony. Some guests had better luck with connection outside and in common areas.
negative:
Jacuzzi not as good as expected.
Guests felt lukewarm about jacuzzi tubs that were sometimes a little on the cold side. If you want to sip your margarita while letting the hot water take care of your aches and pains, you may need to ask the hotel to kick the temperature up a notch.
negative:
Night time revelry.
While the hotel was for the most part, a secluded, intimate respite from the crowds, the occasional guest took issue with the nightclub nearby. Loud, driving bass could sometimes be heard into the night, so you might want to request a room as far away from this as possible.
