Hotel Tachfine (Marrakech, Morocco)

For what it is, guests say, Tachfine Hotel is a bargain at the price. Just a 10-minute walk from the Marrakesh train station, and offering all of the basics, it's just the place to stop and have a rest.

The location of Tachfine Hotel makes it the perfect base from which to explore. Amongst other delights of the city, the mosques, souks and the old town are just a walk away, so that you can get a true taste of Moroccan culture every day.

Guests say that they were pleased with the way that their rooms were maintained. Amenities work satisfactorily, the beds are comfortable, and there is impeccable daily housekeeping.

While many guests say that they found the staff friendly and accommodating, some say that one shouldn't arrive with the expectation of making life-long friends. Professionalism over hugs, thanks very much.

The terraced bar on the 6th Floor may be a tad too popular, some guests say. The noise from the partying crowd may be heard well into the night, in rooms in the vicinity. Other guests add that the ‘ladies' invitingly sipping drinks at the bar may not be as welcome as they think.

While most guests don't mind it, some say that they are slightly put off by the 1970s feel of Tachfine Hotel. Last refurbished in 2007, it may well be that a new facelift would bring the hotel back to the present, if not the future. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with the 70s!
