Given Hotel Drei Kronen’s fantastic position, many of Cologne’s attractions are within easy walking distance. The Rhine steamers can be boarded just steps from the hotel, while the very popular (and delicious) Chocolate Museum is just 0.7 miles away.
This was, by a mile, what guests most appreciated about the hotel. Most guests had come to sightsee and experience Cologne's street life and nightlife, and all agreed that they were in an absolutely unbeatable position to do these things. The cathedral, Rhine and main station were just steps away.
Again and again guests compliment the staff on the warm welcome they received, and also their ongoing friendliness and willingness to help them with any issue they had, or advice they sought.
While not all rooms have Rhine views, guests who were in rooms that did could barely stop talking about them. The view would constitute the classic Cologne outlook, so they felt very privileged to be in a room with such a view. Guests who appreciate a good outlook should definitely try to book a river view room.
Reviews for Drei Kronen were overwhelmingly positive. One issue that did come up a few times was that of leaking showers. Either the leak made showering awkward, or the dripping was irritating when trying to sleep. But this was not a common complaint.
Of course hotel Wi-Fi is notorious in general, and quite a few guests were happy with it, but at least an equal number found it too slow or reliable for their needs. Guests who have an urgent need for constant high quality connectivity are advised to activate roaming and use the LTE and 3G networks.
Considering its central location, there were not as many noise complaints as expected, but there certainly were some. Guests speak of revellers, especially at the weekends, and garbage trucks disturbing their sleep.
