River Nene Cottages are three self-catering holiday cottages in the village of Water Newton near Peterborough that have been restored from a former farm barn building. Finished to a superior standard, with many period features remaining such as rustic oak beams and vaulted ceilings in all of them, and open fireplaces in some. Each charming cottage offers superb self-catering accommodation and provides the perfect base for those working locally on contract, those wishing to explore the surrounding area or for those simply looking for a romantic retreat in a beautiful tranquil riverside setting. Secured behind automatic gates, the cottages, originally a barn built in 1805, have thoughtful touches that are incorporated to make you feel welcome including complimentary WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and fully equipped kitchens. The bedding is from Dunelm so is of superb quality and fresh fluffy towels await you after your shower. There is free parking for 2 cars per cottage. Guests have full access to the gardens of the main house, a seasonally opened outdoor swimming pool and riverside lawns over which we often enjoy spectacular sunsets. We are 5-10 minutes away from many local attractions such as The Neve Valley Steam Railway, Ferry Meadows leisure park, SIbson aerodrome where skydiving and a flight training school operate. We are in an area of outstanding beauty with many stone villages and market towns such as Stamford, Oundle and Oakham. Sailing and water based sporting activities take place at nearby Rutland Water and Ferry Meadows. Peterborough has one the many important cathedrals this area has to offer as well as a fascinating museum. 10 mins from Peterborough train station/centre and 2 minutes from Junct 17 A1M.
