About Middle Flass Lodge
Housed in an exquisitely restored and repurposed historical barn, Middle Flass Lodge offers simple and straightforward accommodation in a peaceful spot near the Bowland Forest.
The rooms have a bit of a country cottage feel to them, and are simply furnished. Each features tranquil country views as well as en-suite bathrooms, flat screen TV’s, alarm clocks, hairdryers and tea/coffee stations.
There is a small resident’s lounge available where guests can relax and socialise, or start planning their next excursion.
Breakfast is available in the restaurant and includes, of course, the full English breakfast, and much more besides. Dinner is also served, with country and British favourites taking centre stage. Middle Flass Lodge is a licensed premises.
The main area attraction is the Bowland Forest, with its many biking and hiking paths. The hosts are keen hikers, and will be able to advise on the best routes.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Situated in lovely peaceful spot
The peaceful surroundings and outlook were definitely what guests most appreciated about Middle Flass. Even those who had other issues commented that they could feel a sense of peace and tranquillity when on the property.
positive:
Excellent food in the restaurant
While there were a few contrary opinions, the overwhelming majority seemed to really like both the breakfast and dinner served. The dinner, especially, was said to be not only tasty, but inventive as well. The vegetable offerings at dinner were said to be especially good.
positive:
Owners very knowledgeable
The owners, Nigel and Joan, were said to be very knowledgeable. Many guests were in the area to explore the Bowland Forest, and seemed to have picked up invaluable tips on the best routes to take from the hosts.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Décor a bit dated
While not mentioned very often, a couple of guests pointed out that the décor in their room was a bit dated. Not in a cosy or classical sort of way, but rather just that it looked tired and needed to be updated.
negative:
Hostess not always welcoming
Guests universally praised the host, but the hostess received much more mixed reviews. Quite a few guests mentioned that, at least to them, she was not at all welcoming or friendly.
negative:
No cell phone signal
A few guests mentioned that they got no cell phone signal at the lodge. It may depend on the network they were on, but guests should be prepared to be incommunicado for a while. Though there is Wi-Fi, which was said to work well, so apps that simply need raw connectivity should still work.
