About Scottish Highlander Guesthouse

Because of a love for Scotland and a desire to offer guests something really special, the idea to start something quite different to the normal Bavarian “Pension” (B&B) was created, to run the Scottish Highlander Guesthouse, the first Scottish Bed and Breakfast of the Bavarian Forest. The guesthouse is situated in a quiet residential area of Mauth. In just a minute's walk you are in the centre of Mauth with its shops, café and restaurants. Around Mauth the Bavarian Forest offers many opportunities. Enjoy sightseeing and shopping in Freyung, Grafenau and Passau. Or visit Nuernberg or Munich within a two-hour drive. Austria and the Czech Republic are also just a few kilometers away; welcome in the Dreilaendereck (the geographical triangle of Bavaria, Austria and Czech Republic). The Scottish Highlander Guesthouse has been lovingly furnished and decorated with many original Scottish details. It offers eleven double bedrooms (also to be booked as single rooms) and two family rooms, all en suite (toilet, washbasin and shower facilities), in modern Bavarian quality and in Scottish flair. Each room is equipped with a big double bed (the family rooms with an extra bunk bed), two comfortable armchairs, a table, tea/coffee making facilities, a digital colour satellite-TV and a guest/tourist information folder. A travel cot, high chair, iron and ironing board are all available on request. All the rooms have free wireless Internet access (free WiFi). Friendly family-dogs are very welcome. Apart from the bank-holiday weeks there is no minimum duration, so short stay guests or transients are very welcome as well. Get spoiled by a rich breakfast. Please decide yourself if you fancy a classic German breakfast (continental breakfast) which is included in the rates or if you want a full cooked Scottish breakfast with an extra charge. During the day you can get drinks, snacks and small meals. Occasional barbecues and evening meals are also available.
