Positive Reviews
positive:
Good with or without a car
Both guests who travelled by car, and those who came by train, seemed to be happy with Polraen. The motorists liked that there was ample on-site parking, while those without a car still felt they could get about due to the proximity of the train and bus service. At the local station guests even got to flag down their train.
positive:
Knowledgeable and welcoming owners
The owners and hosts, Gill and Martin, come in for pretty much universal praise. They are described as very welcoming on arrival and the perfect hosts for the duration of a guest's stay. Also mentioned is their knowledge of the surrounding area, which was much appreciated.
positive:
Great walks nearby
Quite a few guests are avid ramblers, and give the area thumbs up for variety. Particularly mentioned were the coastal walks near Polpero, but there seem to be many walks starting right from the guest house as well.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not really walking distance to Looe
While no claims are made to the contrary some guests do mention that it is not really easy to walk to Looe. They thought that if they didn't have a car they'd be somewhat stuck later at night when the buses stop running.
negative:
The mushrooms at breakfast
There were very few negative comments about Polraen to be found anywhere. The breakfast is overwhelmingly well received, but a couple o guests point out that the mushrooms served are too spicy for their taste. Guests who do not like spicy foods can perhaps forego them in favour of a delicious alternative.
negative:
King bed in standard size room
There is one room in the guest house which contains a king size bed, but is a fairly regular size room. Some guests feel cramped in this room.
