New Seoul Hotel Myeongdong (Seoul, South Korea)

If you love to shop then you will be in shopping heaven here! This hotel is nestled between two of the best shopping districts in Seoul, Namdaemun and its traditional markets and Myeong-dong and its busy high street.

There are two Metro stations nearby and from here you can visit nearly anywhere in the city as each one is on a different line. Nearby there is also the art museum and many places to enjoy a meal out or grab a coffee. The airport bus stops nearby or it’s easy enough to grab a taxi.

The hotel does a good job catering for all nationalities at breakfast. There is the usual fare plus Korean specialities.

Guests do not feel like they have received a warm welcome here with door staff and the reception team coming across as rude, sour and surly. Guests feel if they have raised a concern it has not been dealt with swiftly enough or sensitively and they have not been able to answer simple questions about the hotel and the surrounding areas.

The rooms here are ready for an upgrade and the hotel needs to look at renovating them soon. Complaints have including feeling damp and musty, which may be down to issues with air-conditioning. Some rooms do not have windows so ensure you read the room descriptions carefully as these are very dark.

The rooms are very small here and even for just one person feel claustrophobic. The bathrooms are so tiny that it is actually a challenge to use the facilities.
