Positive Reviews
positive:
That new hotel room smell
Many guests commented on the fact that the hotel was obviously very new. This impressed guests for all sorts of reasons, the main one being that everything looked new and sparkling with no dents, dings and other signs that a room had been well used. It was almost like the room was only used for them.
positive:
Very convenient location
Most guests seemed to fit in one of two camps - those visiting the Western Carolina University and those visiting the Smoky Mountains National Park. Both groups found the hotel to be placed very conveniently, with the two locations being just minute’s drive away.
positive:
Exceptionally clean rooms
One of the first thing guests mentioned in their reviews was that their room was spotlessly clean on check-in. They felt that housekeeping did an excellent and consistent job keeping the whole hotel in tip top shape.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Odd “resort fee” charge
Guests expressed surprise that they wee charged a daily “resort fee” when staying at the hotel. While it was not a very steep charge, they nonetheless pointed out that the hotel was in no possible sense a resort, so found it bizarre that they would be faced with such a charge.
negative:
Rooms not ready in time
A surprising number of guests mentioned that their room was not ready at the official check-in time. They felt a bit hard done by since they were obviously paying for the room, and didn’t feel that the hotel’s understaffing issues should be allowed to affect them.
negative:
Very poor breakfast
It was hard to find much positive sentiment expressed about the breakfast. Guests found it to be a rather dismal refueling exercise with not enough variety to generate any sort of enthusiasm.
