Spotlessly clean
While the rooms were, to nobody's surprise, described as basic, they were also said to be spotlessly clean on arrival. Guests felt that the cleaning staff had done a good job.
Situated on the extensive university campus, Keynes College - University of Kent Accommodation offers places to holiday makers in university holidays, with limited availability at other times. The rooms are fairly regular student-type accommodation, with basic facilities. Each features free toiletries, work desk and tea/coffee stations. There are also communal kitchens for guests who would like to self cater. Naturally the campus has extensive leisure and fitness facilities available, including tennis and squash courts and a fully equipped gym. The campus has an incredible six restaurants on site, with a decent variety of cuisines available. There are also a few bars and a nightclub. Keynes College occupies a site on the outskirts of Canterbury. The town centre and railway station are approximately 1.3 miles to the south. It is in a decent position for a stopover when heading to Europe by ferry. Dover is just 20 miles away.

This was mentioned by many, and was perhaps the main reason for booking at this accommodation. Most realised they would be getting simple student-type accommodation, rather than a fancy hotel, but found the room rates very good for the decent accommodation that was offered.
Though it was said to be a relatively long walk, at around 25 minutes, a couple of guests appreciated it being close enough that they didn't need to use a car to get there. There were also said to be buses running that route for those who didn't want to walk.
A surprising number of guests highlighted the absence of any lifts in the blocks containing the rooms. While it would only have been a few floors up at most, and it did not seem a major concern, those with mobility issues should take note.
A couple of guests travelling in the summer holidays mentioned that several restaurants on campus were closed - perhaps completely for the holidays, but definitely at dinner time. They said they needed to go in to Canterbury to find a good place to eat.
Several guests mentioned that the accommodation was quite difficult to find. Those arriving in the daytime could generally struggle along and find out just were they needed to be by asking others on campus, but guests arriving late seemed to find it very difficult to identify just where they needed to go to check-in.
