Positive Reviews
positive:
Charming honesty bar
Guests were both amused and impressed by the honesty bar. It was un-staffed, but guests who poured themselves drinks were asked to mark down what they had consumed. Many were tickled pink by this, and thought it was all very charming.
positive:
In very beautiful setting
While there were quite a few complaints about the lodge, most guests did agree that the outlook from the property was lovely. From the lodge they could look down upon the bay, or up to the hills.
positive:
Cosy lounge with lots of books and board games
A couple of guests mention the lounge as a highpoint, especially on the inevitable odd rainy days. It is stocked with books and board games to keep guests happily occupied.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some may find the décor a bit dated
While many comment that the bathrooms have been updated, and look rather spiffy, they have less kind things to say about the rest of their rooms. They are described as “tired” and definitely way past the due date for a substantial refresh.
negative:
Less than spectacular breakfast
Based on the large amount of negative sentiment, it seems undeniable that there is something wrong with the breakfast at the lodge. It is apparently prepared at a sister property and brought in. Perhaps this accounts for the issues many guests complain about.
negative:
Staff not particularly welcoming
There are several guest comments that the staff at the hotel did not make them feel welcome. Not rude or hostile, per se, but rather just uninterested. This was not a universal sentiment, but it does seem that all is not well on the staff relations front.
