Barbecue at side of terrace. Lovely views over the village. One bedroom with king-size bed, large wardrobe and drawers for storage, and a balcony. The gite has a fully-equipped fitted kitchen, large fridge-freezer, oven, halogen hob and microwave, toaster, coffe-machine and dish-washer. Dining table and chairs for six people. Adjoining living-room has two very comfortable sofas, which can be converted into two singles or one double bed. A curtain can be drawn right across when required to divide off the sleeping area. There is a reading corner with leather armchair, plus satellite TV and DVD player. Bathroom with walk-in shower, storage shelves and washing machine. Separate toilet. The gite is very well-appointed, with additional electric heating and every comfort. Sheets, towels and tea-towels provided. The large and luxurious unheated pool, which is shared with the owners, has a retractable cover, and is open from June until the end of September. Lots of pool chairs and loungers. Free wi-fi. 'One of the best gites we have ever stayed in' A short walk to the village centre, with fountain, boules, football and games pitch and floral park. Village life revolves around Le Grand Cafe, with bar, events, live music and food, and there is a grocery store and post office. A pizzaiola food-truck serves food most days. Another restaurant L'Roul Hot, can be found by the banks of the river, just ten minutes walk from the gite. The village is small and very friendly, and dates from before the Middle Ages, with parts of the Chapel of Saint Sauveur dating to the 11th century. Locally the village and scenic 'montagne' surroundings are renowned for hiking, chestnut trees, wild asparagus and mushrooms. Fishing and hunting is allowed with the necessary permits. Short walks in the hills around the village lead to an arboretum, Visigoth cemetery and Calvary. Within 12km there are supermarkets, emergency services, doctors, pharmacies and golf courses. The area is rich in natural sites, such as Heric Gorges (30km), Cirque du Moureze (20 km), and the Plateaus of Carroux, Espinouse and Escandorgue history, all in the Haut Languedoc regional park, of which Camplong is a part.
