Non-motorists liked the way they were walking distance from the nearest bus and tram stops for trips across the city. Drivers were upbeat about the plentiful free parking and nearby petrol station. The suburban location just off the A576 and a short drive from the M60 meant motorists could easily get around Greater Manchester. Furthermore, Heaton Park was on the doorstep for leisurely strolls.

Reviewers liked the contemporary, clean, spacious and tidy rooms with popular touches like the big flat-panel TVs and powerful showers. Guests were also keen on the large premium beds, which many said were just right for a good night's sleep. Budget-conscious travellers felt they got a fair amount of bang for their buck as the rooms were usually affordable.

Occasionally, there were claims that service at the restaurant slowed down during busier periods, which disappointed several guests who felt they waited too long for their food and sometimes wondered if understaffing was to blame.
