Guests reported that the rooms at The Newmarket Inn are small and dated with old-fashioned decor and furnishings. Also reported was a musty smell, a lack of soundproofing, a lack of toiletries, mould in the bathrooms and broken utilities.

Some guests reported feeling unwelcome due to unfriendly and unhelpful staff who seem to prefer avoiding guests rather than accommodating them. Staff are unapologetic when issues arise, they blatantly turn down simple requests and issues either go unresolved or take a long time to be fixed.

The service in the restaurant is lacking with guests reporting they had to wait a long time to be seated and served, staff who delay removing dirty dishes and cutlery from tables and servers who are abrupt and unaccommodating. Also reported was low-quality food that included unhealthy, greasy, tasteless items, poor-quality meat, stale coffee, soggy vegetables and food that should've been hot but was served cold.
