About Locanda Ca' Formosa
Set in a quiet area a little away from the tourist throng,
the Locanda Ca’ Formosa
offers boutique accommodation in an historic 13th century Venetian
villa.
Each room is inspired by, and is dedicated to, a notable Venation “Doge” and features understated classical Venetian décor. Every room has a TV, air conditioning unit, minibar, telephone, and in-room safe. The superior rooms on the top floor have sweeping views over the rooftops.
There is a small reception area open limited hours. Guests can access the Wi-Fi when at another property owned by the same group.
A standard Italian breakfast is available every morning, while other meals can be enjoyed at some of the many neighbourhood restaurants and cafes. The reception staff will be happy to offer recommendations.
Locanda Ca’ Formosa is 600 yards from the Rialto Bridge, and just 450 yards from St. Mark’s Square.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Surprisingly quiet at night
A couple of guests mentioned being surprised by how quiet the building was at night. It seems its location down a bit of an alley protects it from a lot of street noise. But whatever the reason, guest appreciated being able to rest in peace.
positive:
Breakfast was a big hit
Surprisingly perhaps, a large number of guests really enjoyed the breakfast. It wasn't a cooked “English” type breakfast, but was a decent buffet spread that seemed to carry guests over until lunch.
positive:
Very helpful staff
Again and again guests comment that the staff at the property were amazing. They were described as incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to lend guests a hand.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Malfunctioning air conditioning units
Several guests mentioned problems with the air conditioning units in their rooms, so it seems there may be a general problem. The complaints were either that they did not work at all or that they generated a huge racket that made it difficult to sleep. In any event, it left some hot and not at all pleasantly bothered.
negative:
Shared bathrooms
Quite a few guests were surprised by the shared bathroom arrangements, so it seems this may not be sufficiently stressed in marketing materials and booking sites. They also describe the bathroom as awkwardly positioned, requiring guests to walk through the breakfast room in the morning to get to the shower or bathroom.
negative:
No on-site Wi-Fi
Many guests are disappointed that there was no Wi-Fi available. While the owners do allow guests to access the network at another of their properties this is obviously not very convenient.
