camping to a new level. The seaside is just an hour’s drive away, in sunny
Scarborough.
The wooden cabins and ‘tipis’ can host two to four guests. Each unit contains sofa bedding, TV and DVD. There are shared bathroom and toilet facilities.
Free parking is available. Guests may bring along their own appliances, i.e. their fridge. The campsite is extremely convenient for those wishing to explore the region as the prominent York towns are only a drive away.
All units also come complete with a picnic bench to enjoy eating outdoors in fine weather and grills can be rented on daily basis by those who wish to prepare simple meals.
Yapham Holds Farmhouse is near the market town of Pocklington and a short drive from towns like South Bank and York Minster.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location and hosts
The site is located within reasonable driving distance to the nearest market town, Pocklington, which has all the features that anyone could want in a town, such as shops, pubs and cafés, post office, etc. The South Bank, York Minster and the seaside town of Scarborough are within reasonable driving distance, for those who wish to explore further. The hosts, Steve and Janet, are friendly and helpful.
positive:
Clean facilities
Recent guests have spoken warmly about the cleanliness of the shared bathroom facilities as well as the campsite in general. The units are spotless too.
positive:
Peaceful site
There has been praise for the fact that this is a peaceful site that is very quiet at night. This is good news for anyone looking for peace and quiet on their holiday break, rather than activity and nightlife. Whether one stays here in one’s own caravan or in a rented unit, this seems to be the case.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Lack of cooking facilities
Although a grill may be rented on a daily basis to assist campers with preparing their meals, some have found it rather limiting. Apart from grilling and barbecuing, there seems to be no other way to prepare food here, unless one brings one’s own caravan or cooking facilities such as a microwave.
negative:
Uncomfortable sofa
Although guests in general appear to be very happy with the sleeping arrangements here, a noticeable few have mentioned that the sofa bed is a little less comfortable than they would have liked.
negative:
Bring your car
The only apparent disadvantage about this location is that it seems essential to bring a car along in order to enjoy a variety in meals and to get the best out of the unique location of this lovely campsite.
